September Order

It's time! It's time! Time for fruit orders again!

To order fruit, please email me (Kristen Flandro) at kflandro@gmail.com, or message me on facebook. If you would "pear"fer, you can call or text me at 801-808-8718.

You MUST provide at least two ways to contact you. Three is better. Cell phone, home phone, email. I WILL NOT place your order without this information. I will confirm with you that I received your order. Thank you ever so much!

I have way too much on my plate this year to do more than that. Each kind of fruit will only be offered once this season, so order when it's offered or miss out. Sorry!

Tomatoes!

Bluffdale farmer seeks women interested in clearing his front porch of beautiful ripe tomatoes. $15 per box, Celebrity tomatoes. Right now they have 45 boxes on the porch at his house, and will continue picking until frost hits. The address for the farm is 2067 W. 13800 S. If you want some, you can just leave the money in the can on the porch and take what you paid for. It is the honor system there:) For questions, call his daughter-in-law, Joyce, at 801-556-3467.

Huzzah!

It's time! It's time! Time for fruit orders again!

This year I will be posting what is available on a Thursday or Friday, orders will be due Mondays by noon and delivery and pick-up will be Wednesdays at my house after 3pm.

SO! First order due this Monday, August 26th, to be picked up on Wednesday, August 28th... now to the good stuff (rubbing my hands together gleefully...)

Raspberries! Full flat of beautiful raspberries for $27
RED Bartlett Pears! (the good ones!) 3/4 bushel Jumbo for $26
3/4 bushel Large for $24

That's all so far. FYI, my fruit lady told me they lost about 1/4 of their fruit crop this year. If you want them, I'd get them as early in the season as possible. Quantities are down, so when they run out, they run out!

Heads Up!

I am happy to sell this bulk fruit to anyone who would like to purchase it. It is awesome fruit and so worth it! I DO NOT, however, guarantee any particular fruit will arrive when it is expected to. Most of the time these deliveries go successfully and all arrives as planned. But occasionally my supplier either messes up an order or runs out of a particular fruit and cannot deliver as promised. Please be aware that these things are out of my control. If this should happen to your order, I will contact you as soon as I know about it. :)

What have I gotten myself into?!

OK, so here's the deal. Several years ago a neighbor of mine (Crystal E.) was the go-between for her aunt (a multi-orchard owning, fruit loving gem) and her neighbors (somewhat crazed food storage fanatics, looking for a good deal on various fruit to dry, mash, jam, cook, can and ultimately admire on the shelf in all their preserved glory).

Sadly, Crystal and her family moved away. Sniff. Though we miss Crystal terribly, there is a silver lining. The connection to her Aunt and all of that glorious fruit has been re-established!

It is the goal of this blog to distribute information on what is available, how and when to order, when and where it can be picked up, and how much it will cost.

Blackberry Jam (or substitute raspberries!)

5 cups crushed blackberries (do not puree, crush w/masher)
7 cups sugar
1 (1 3/4 oz) pkg. fruit jell pectin
Carefully measure out the berries, put them into a very large pot. Measure sugar into a large bowl. Add the pectin to the berries a little at a time, stirring constantly. Heat on high, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a FULL boil. Add sugar all at once, stirring. Bring mixture back to a full hard boil while stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and ladle into clean, hot pint jars, leaving 1/4 inch space at the top. Wipe the rim and put canning lids and rings on firmly. Process in boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Remove and set them on a towel to set for 12 hours. Yum!
